ALSC - General Terms of Business
ALSC takes pride in its work and strives hard to deliver on or before the deadline. All job instructions need to be submitted in writing. For translations, one round of author's or editor's corrections will be implemented free of charge; however, substantial changes to the original during the translation process, extensive stylistic changes ("to golden the lily"), or translation memory work will trigger additional charges. Unless special arrangements are made in advance, payment is due prior to delivery using one of the options below.
Please note:
ALSC's minimum charge is $50.-RUSH (ASAP) orders cost 50% more
because they interrupt the normal flow of work and/or require overtime.
If you would like it soon, but don't need it "as soon as possible" and/or
your budget doesn't allow for rush charges,
please specify "at your earliest convenience" - NOT ASAP!
Payment Options
Visa® and Master Card® via PayPal®
ALSC recommends the new E-mail mediated PayPal® system, which is secure, convenient, and fast. In short, you will either pay directly from your bank account or secure your payment with a Visa® or Master Card®. In either case you do not have to give ALSC your account information because PayPal® acts as sort of like an escrow agent inbetween. The credit card purchase will be a merchant transaction and you typically have 25 days to repay the bank that issued your credit card, before interest will accrue. This service is backed by industry leaders Nokia Ventures, idealab Capital Partners and Deutsche Bank. There is no fee for this service. For a limited time you may even get paid $5.- for signing up. American Express® and Discover® Cards

Checks
Members of the American Translators Association may pay by check. Unless otherwise agreed to in writing, terms are 45 days net. Accounts past due are subject to a late fee of $30 and are charged 1.5% interest per month (18% annual). Buyer agrees to pay collection costs of unpaid accouncts including reasonable attorney's fees.
| Non-ATA US customers may also pay by check, but the translation will only be released after the check has cleared. This may take up to 10 days from the time you send the check by US mail. You may cut this time in half, however, if you fax a copy of your check to (909) 463-1076 or provide the necessary details by phone or E-mail. ALSC will then use CheckWriter® Software from InstantPC® to deposit a draft of your check on the next or even the same day. To learn more about this service, click on the logo to the left. |
