M104, the “Sombrero Galaxy” in Virgo,
taken by Erin McAndrew (c/o 2000) using the Mt. Wilson 24-inch telescope
and color processed at Chaffey High School using SkyPro ® image processing
software.
A supernova of apparent magnitude
12 photographed two days after discovery in May 1998 in M96.
This image was taken by Vanessa Vargas (c/o 1998) using the Mt. Wilson
24-inch telescope on 19 May 1998. The supernova is the bright star immediately
above the bright core of the galaxy. Vanessa missed discovery by
only two days!
