All Saints’ has many opportunities to minister during mass. Acolyte Adult and youth acolytes serve at the altar during services. They light the candles and, as part of the procession and recession to the altar, acolytes carry the cross and candles. They assist the priests with preparations for Holy Communion. Altar Guild The Altar Guild assists the clergy in preparation for worship. The members of the guild are called to arrange and maintain all the physical parts of the service. Members take care of the priests' robes and accessories, keep all the vessels clean and polished, and make sure there is always a candle burning in the sanctuary. They keep the holy water founts filled, and take care of multitude of important details within the sanctuary. Also part of their responsibility is working with families for both weddings and funerals. Chalice Bearer Chalice Bearers assist with the offering of sacramental wine during the Holy Communion. They are elected from the congregation and receive special training for their ministry. Choir All Saints' volunteer choir provides the musical accompaniment for all Choral Eucharist services. When in season they meet weekly to practice and add a rich texture to the service with hymns, praise songs and anthems. Contact Fr. Don White for information on this ministry. Lay Reader Lay readers are responsible for reading the Old Testament and New Testament passages that are a part of each service, as well as leading some prayers. Like chalice bearers, they are elected from the congregation and receive special training for their ministry. Ushers
Ushers serve All Saints’ parish at the
Sunday masses. They meet and welcome visitors/newcomers, assist them as
needed with orientation, service books, information pertaining to church
school and the various parish activities, etc. They also bring the
offerings to the altar and arrange for parishioners to bear the
sacramental elements to the altar. In addition, they tape the priest’s
sermons. Following the service they carry out a number of custodial duties
to make sure that everything is in order before the area is secured. |
